According to a new Statistics Canada report,
women in the baby boom generation, the first cohort
of women to participate in the workforce for most of
their adult lives, will be retiring in greater numbers
than ever before. The significance of this society-altering
demographic shift is reflected in the percentages:
women made up 57.4% of the population in 1998 and,
of those aged 55 to 64 in 2004, 47.7% were in the labour
force (compared to only 12.9% of women in 1954). By
sheer numbers alone, women will have a profound influence
on retirement, so much so, that “the new retirement
is women’s retirement..."

The Retirement Success Profile is a scientifically
designed assessment tool consisting of 120 questions
that identifies personal retirement strengths and concerns
for people over 50, who are recently retired or planning
their retirement. The RSP measures a person's readiness
to retire. The results provide a quantitative measure
of one's attitude and preparation for retirement and
proposes areas where one can focus some attention in
order to raise that level of readiness and ensure greater
success.
